Sandals Royal Barbados Reviews

Sandals Royal Barbados officially opened for business on December 20, 2017.

Sandals Royal Barbados is a 222 all-suite resort, located right next door to Sandals Barbados.

Whenever a new resort opens, you can expect that it will not be operating at the same level of a resort that has been opened for months or years and the early reviews of the resort will reflect this.  So, if you are sensitive to things not going exactly as planned, I would recommend you give this resort at least 4-6 months to work out the kinks.

If you are willing to give the resort and the people a chance, there is a lot to like about the new Sandals Royal Barbados.

Sandals Royal Barbados Reviews:

  • The staff in Barbados is friendly and helpful
  • Most people find the food to be very good – better than many other Sandals.
  • There are 6 restaurants at Sandals Royal Barbados and an additional 11 restaurants next door at Sandals Barbados.
  • Views from the ocean front rooms are spectacular
  • The rooms are well appointed and everything is brand new
  • There are many nice pools throughout the resort including the one-of-a-kind rooftop pool
  • The beach is nice, but the water is usually pretty choppy.  This is not a place where you will be able to snorkel on most days.
  • There is not much shade available on the beach at Sandals Royal Barbados.  There is a little more shade available next door.  There are also covered cabanas available.
  • The grounds of the resort are extremely well maintained – many guest have reported seeing the local monkeys.
  • Another unique feature of this resort is the 4 lane bowling alley, which many guests enjoy.
  • Very good dive expeditions are available
  • The resort is frequently quite windy, which causes the ocean to be rough, but reduces the amount of bugs and mosquitoes.

More About Sandals Royal Barbados

  • All suites at Sandals Royal Barbados are either Club level or Butler level with balcony tranquility soaking tubs, room service, in-room bar, and turn-down service.
  • The resort has – 1 rooftop pool, 1 beachfront quiet swimming pool, 1 party pool in the South Seas area with swim up bar and 2 lagoon swimming pools.

Waves Resort Barbados Reviews

Updated: January 27, 2018

Waves Beach Resort is a 70 room all inclusive resort located on the idyllic west coast of Barbados.

NOTE: The Waves resort was acquired by the Elegant Hotels chain, and is now the third Barbados all inclusive resort in the Elegant Resort chain, joining Turtle Beach Resort and Crystal Cove Hotel.

What Makes Waves Barbados Special

  • One of the unique features of the Waves resort is that spa services are included.  This is a very uncommon feature of an all inclusive resort.  If you enjoy using the spa, this is a great feature.  You should check with the hotel prior to booking about what spa services are included and what aren’t.
  • The main hotel (there are two parts of the resort) sits right on the beach.  If you have an ocean view room, especially a higher room, you will not find a better view of the ocean anywhere.  The sunsets will be spectacular.
  • If a friendly staff is important to you, this resort will not disappoint.  The staff is well known to be among the best you will find anywhere.

Below is a summation of hundreds of user reviews on Waves Beach Resort.

Waves Hotel Barbados Reviews: The positive

  • The Staff are second to none.  They are friendly, helpful, and always smiling.
  • The Food is of a high quality, fresh, and, well prepared.  The Chef is very passionate.
  • The new Coffee Shop is a brilliant addition.  The Coffee Shop offers snacks, cakes, ice cream, etc.,throughout the day, and makes a great latte.
  • The Rooms are spacious, well appointed, and kept spotlessly clean.  The Bathrooms are great.
  • The new Spa is beautiful.  The Spa treatments are very relaxing.
  • The Water Sports and the Water Sports Team are fantastic.
  • The adult only pool – seen in photos below, is beautiful.
  • The beach is small, but very nice.  The water is usually calm and beautiful.
  • The Beach Ambassador service is great.  You can be served on the the beach throughout the day.
  • The Sun Loungers are new and very comfortable.  There is no need to get up early to claim a Sun Lounger.
  • The evening entertainment is good, but not spectacular.
  • If you want to explore the island, the bust stop is close to the resort. It is easy to get public transport and explore the island.
  • The Water Taxi comes and goes all day to take guests to their sister resorts.
  • New Fitness Center is very nice.
  • The sunsets are spectacular (if you are staying in an ocean view room in the main hotel).
  • The Waves Resort has been refurbished to an extremely high standard.  It has a real sense of style, and a real boutique feel.

Waves Hotel Barbados Reviews: The negative

  • The resort is not perfectly set up for kids.  There are two separate pool areas, one for kids and one for adults only.  The adults only pool (seen below) is much nicer than the kids pool, which is quite small and located in a small enclosed area.
  • Some of the rooms are actually across the street. There is no view of the ocean.  You have to cross a busy street to get to the beach and most of the restaurants.
  • The spa is also located across the street.
  • The beach is nice, but a little on the small side, especially at high tide.

Other Considerations for Waves Barbados

  • The resort is split between two areas directly across the street from each other.  One is ocean facing and the other is not.  The larger pool (see photos below) is across the street on the spa side.  It is an adults only pool.
  • Waves is one of several hotels in the Elegant Hotels chain in Barbados.  This allows you to visit all the west coast hotels in the chain.  There is a water taxi that runs throughout the day.
  • A destination wedding or honeymoon can be planned at the Waves Beach Resort.
  • There is a pretty terrace which overlooks the beautiful beach.  The sunsets are spectacular!
  • Waves is a smaller resort which makes it easier to relax and unwind by the ocean.

What is included at Waves Barbados

  • Food and beverages
  • Room service
  • Non-motorized water sports
  • Mortorized water sports
  • Wifi
  • Fitness Center
  • Beach service
  • Shared resort access (including dining)

Below is a summation of hundreds of user reviews on The Club Barbados.  Updated through October 2016.

Most frequent positive reviews about Turtle Beach Resort

  • The Staff are very friendly, efficient and professional.  They strive to make your stay enjoyable.  Nothing is to much trouble.
  • The Food is good, of a high quality with plenty of variety.  There are three restaurants to choose from, a  Buffet with a different theme every night, an A La Carte, and a Zagat rated authentic Italian restaurant, (Asiago’s).  Menus are put out in advance for the A La Carte restaurant to make choosing easier.
  • The Suites are spacious, clean, nice décor, and the beds are comfortable.
  • The Flying Kids Club and Staff are awesome.  Great activities are offered, tennis, air hockey, arts and crafts,  making smoothies, treasure hunts, football games, and much more.  The kids have the time of their life, they do not want to leave.

Most frequent negative reviews about Turtle Beach Resort

  • The ocean is rough.  Expect to see red flags on occasion due to the choppy waters.  Most of the time the water will not be calm.
  • May not be able to do water sports everyday due to the rough water.
  • If you require flat seas and no wind, this is not the resort for you.  We recommend you try a resort on the west coast like Crystal Cove or Waves.
  • Excess of seaweed at times.  The staff work regularly to keep the beach clean.
  • Birds flying around the dining area are a nuisance.
  • If you lose your towel card you are charged $30.00 U.S.
  • Mini refrigerators are not stocked. You will have to pay extra if you want soda and water in your room.
  • If you are with kids you cannot use the Italian Restaurant.
  • Wi-Fi in the room is a bit slow.  It is good on the beach and by the pools.
  • If you book within the range of school holidays,  and,  you are traveling as a couple,  be aware you may run into family groups and lots of children.  If this is not for you, you may want to stay at a different time,  or,  at a different resort.

Other Considerations

  • A destination wedding  or honeymoon can be planned at the Turtle Beach Resort.  A wedding package is available.
  • Even though the water can be rough at times it makes body boarding and surfing lots of fun.
  • The kids can go to movie night and have dinner in the kids club while the adults  go to the adult only restaurant (Asiago’s) and enjoy dinner.

The Club Barbados Reviews – 4 Star All Inclusive

Updated: October 1, 2016

Ideally located oceanfront on Barbados’s West Coast, The Club offers terrific rooms and suites, including Oceanfront Rooms and Suites, a luxurious Spa & Salon, freshwater swimming pools, All-Inclusive dining and drinks, water sports, entertainment, and the warm hospitality Barbados is famous for.  The Club Barbados reviews are largely positive.  It is a low key hotel with an excellent location.

Perfect for couples, honeymoons, friends, and family (16 years of age and older), The Club is your perfect Caribbean vacation getaway.

Below is a summation of hundreds of user reviews on The Club Barbados.

The Club Barbados Reviews: The Positive

  • Efficient, friendly, and attentive staff.
  • The food is very good with an excellent variety and is well presented.  The chef will cater to special dietary needs.
  • The rooms are spacious, clean, and the beds are very comfortable.
  • The adult only resort is small and intimate which makes it easy to meet other guests.
  • The location is excellent.  If so inclined,  pleasant walks can be taken in all directions.
  • Guests recommend taking advantage of the spa and the amenities the spa has to offer..
  • Pool areas have plenty of chairs and sun loungers.
  • Guests enjoy sitting at the beach bar and watching the sunset in a calm and quiet atmosphere.
  • A variety of water sports are offered with a water sports team that are very polite and helpful.
  • When the bar closes at 11:00 P.M.  the Piano bar is open until 2 A.M.  with singing and karaoke.
  • The gym is well equipped with new treadmills and weight machines.
  • There is a lovely gift shop on site.
  • The Reggae bus stop is right outside the hotel.

The Club Barbados Reviews: The Negative

  • The beach area is small at low tide and can become non existent at high tide.  You can see a clear picture of the beach area below.
  • The guests will reserve beach sun beds before breakfast when the resort gets busier. This can be annoying when the sun beds are not used for several hours.
  • Entertainment can be a bit low key,  but,  it is still well varied.
  • Wi Fi can be inconsistent.  You may have to sit in the bar or the reception area.
  • Don’t expect to see the hotel full of really young couples.  If it is a party hotel you want this hotel may be a bit low key for you.

Other Considerations

  • Breakfast and lunch are buffets providing everything that you could wish for.  The evening dinner is served at your table at either The Sunset Restaurant, which is more relaxed, or Enid’s, being a bit more formal and serving local food.  Both are said to be outstanding.   Two evenings per week a buffet is served.
  • Enid’s offers a demonstration Bajan cooking class for there guests.  Some guests say it was the highlight of their trip.
  • There are 3 nice size pools located in the garden area with lots of exotic flowers, trees and birds to see.
  • Even though The Club Barbados beach is small there is a lovely beach on either side of the hotel that can be used by guests.  Sandy Lane beach is to the left, (famous for the celebrities that stay there), and to the right,  another totally unspoiled beach.  Remember it could be tricky getting to either at high tide.
  • There is a raised terrace with sand that provides a unique area to sit in the afternoon sun and watch the sunset, or, sun bathe all day long.  To get to the water you will need to take the stairs down to the ocean.
  • The Club Barbados is conveniently located for all the best golf courses on the island.
  • It is a short walk to Holetown with it’s plethora of shopping, restaurants, gas station, etc.,  pretty much anything that you might require while on holiday.  There is even a casino.
  • The Club Barbados is a lovely, friendly, relaxed atmosphere with plenty to do and very good excursions run by the hotel.
  • There are no elevators at The Club Barbados. Guests with limited mobility may want to request the ground floor.
  • Reservations are always required for evening meals.

How Does The Club Barbados Define All Inclusive

  • Three meals daily, British style afternoon tea, and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
  • There are two restaurants and four bars available to guests.
  • Three freshwater swimming pools.
